The ICT company Suivo supports the digital transformation of transport and construction companies with its Telematics Platform. The platform connects vehicles, machines, employees and other assets to one another so their location and status are visible at all times. Forwarding instructions, monitoring schedules, or entering working hours are a piece of cake with Suivo. This reduces the administrative burden and helps drivers drive more efficiently, both in terms of safety and fuel consumption. The result: an overall positive effect on costs, planning and customer service. Suivo wanted to extend this efficiency to the way it approaches its translation processes. The company believes that it is important to provide multi-lingual communications: the website, web application, news items, manuals, marketing collaterals, etc. are all available in Dutch, English, French, and sometimes Finnish.
To put an end to the time-consuming translation process, Untranslate came up with a state-of-the-art translation platform. With this platform, it is no longer necessary to manually transfer text from different publication formats into MS Word. Using filters and connectors, “native” file formats are now fed directly into the translation flow, with the result being that the same layout is automatically applied to the translated text.
The translation platform also makes use of a translation memory, which stores every translation so it can be reused when similar text is translated later on. Technical terms are also managed meticulously, which means external translators can refer to terminology choices that have been made previously by product managers. After the texts have been translated, internal employees can then validate the translations. A link contained in an email leads them to an online environment where they can check the texts to ensure they meet the standards required by Suivo in terms of content and style.
This new approach results in lower costs, improved consistency, and a faster time-to-market.
Elke Krämer, Marketing Manager at Suivo explains: “Since starting our collaboration with Untranslate, our multi-lingual communication has become a lot more fluent. After a while, we hardly needed to make any corrections to the translations because of the effective feedback mechanism to the translators. Our employees also have access to the “linguistic assets” that have been built up, which means we can easily use the web-based system to look up a French translation or to check a term. Moreover, the costs have fallen sharply, which means we can publish more multi-lingual content and improve the way we inform and serve our customers.”
Nathalie De Sutter, Managing Partner at Untranslate: “Although Suivo and Untranslate are using totally different software solutions, we share the same goal of preventing the ‘overhead costs’ associated with administration, duplication and unnecessary communication. As a result, we were able to achieve a good understanding from the start, resulting in optimal cooperation.”
In addition to translation and quality management, Untranslate also provides voice-over and subtitling for Suivo company videos.
