In recent years, the Cronos Group has grown enormously into an organisation with around 400 partner companies and more than 6,000 employees. The expansion took place both in and out of the Dutch language area, which means there is a regular need for multilingual business communication within the group. This communication can range from legal documents (often contracts and agreements) and HR-related procedures to sales and marketing materials (for example, quotations relating to tenders and specifications, newsletters, presentations, websites, etc.).
To translate these diverse content types properly, quickly and efficiently into various languages, Untranslate (as a Cronos Competence Centre that specialises in translation services and technology) relies on an extensive pool of specialised language professionals. This pool contains translators, interpreters, copywriters, post-editors, revisers, subtitlers, voice-over artists, etc.). Depending on their language skills, specialisation and experience, they are used for specific projects.
Cronos employees from the various departments (Finance, Legal, HR, Sales, etc.) can request translations via a user-friendly portal. This not only allows them to conveniently initiate a project and pick up the translations as soon as they are ready, it also means they can monitor progress and even get involved in the validation of the translation via a handy online editor. Their feedback is then shared with the translators, and the changes are saved immediately in the translation memory linked to their projects to ensure it always remains up to date.
For Cronos, there is major added value to be gained from an internal team that works together on the multilingual communication strategy of the large IT group. It makes it possible to communicate with customers, suppliers, partners and employees in a targeted, effective and timely manner. Even when they don’t speak Dutch, language is no longer a barrier. Moreover, integrations with internal systems ensure manual work on the text in the pre- and post-process phases is avoided, and the time saved can be used to optimise the content and style of the message so it hits the target group perfectly.
