Nathalie De Sutter recently hosted three guest lectures on Translation Project Management as part of the post-graduate degree on Computer-Assisted Language Mediation (CALM) organised for the first time at Ghent University. She familiarised the students with the basic concepts of translation project management supported by language technology, during which they created a fictional translation project and learned how to proceed from customer inquiry to product delivery.
The CALM postgraduate intends to prepare its students for the modern workplace. With guest lectures being part of several courses, the students get the opportunity to learn from the real-world experience and to prepare themselves for a work placement. Other modules include Terminology and translation technology, Digital Communication Management, Localisation, Audio-visual Language Techniques, Machine Translating and post-editing, Advanced Website Management etc.
