This year, Fedasil launched the mobile website, Fedasil Info, which is a multilingual, intuitive information channel for asylum seekers. The website offers information about 8 themes (asylum and procedure, living, life in Belgium, return, work, unaccompanied minors, health and learning) in 12 languages (Dutch, French, English, Arabic, Farsi, Pashto, Russian, Spanish, Albanian, Turkish, Somali and Tigrinya). Untranslate provided the translations and was given an opportunity to explain this during a presentation to BABIL, the Belgische Adviesraad voor Taal en Communicatie in de Asielopvang [Belgian Advisory Council for Language and Communication in Asylum Reception]. This advisory body of experts in language, communication and asylum provides Fedasil with advice about translations, interpretation and non-verbal means of communication.
During the presentation, Nathalie explained how the technical side of the translations of approximately 150 pages was carried out, namely on the basis of a translation module integrated with Drupal 8. This solution was chosen because of the specific challenges posed by the project: the multitude of languages, internal links, validated terminology, frequent updates, and volume.
The conclusion? Thanks to a mix of optimised process, specialised tools and the right people, Untranslate was able to guarantee quality and cost efficiency. Bring on the updates.
