TechLING is an international conference devoted to the synergies between linguistics and technology, which focuses on the impact of technological tools on language processing. Recent papers and works in the fields of translation and interpreting, language teaching, natural language processing, and psycholinguistics are presented and discussed. This year, the conference took place in Portugal, at Universidade Autónoma de Lisboa, on October 2-4, 2018. For the first time, the conference included the training session techLING+, which was organised on October 4, 2018.
On October 2, Nathalie De Sutter gave a keynote presentation on the use of machine translation and post-editing for translation projects. She has been conducting productivity tests with professional translators and translation students for several years now. In this presentation, she revealed the results of her research and illustrated the impact machine translation can have on the productivity and quality standards of the translation industry.
